Ashley,
First Class Child Development
Before working for Northstar I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do as a career. I wanted to find somewhere that I could really make a difference, grow as an individual and use my leadership skills to serve others. I had 2 kids at the time and I had the opportunity to stay home for a year with them before my husband went back to school. Going back to work and missing out on time with them was hard for me to accept.
Having young kids and working full time to put my husband through school was hard. At times I felt like I was losing myself as a person and I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life but I knew I wanted to be able to watch my kids grow. I had always wanted to travel and have a good circle of friends but working full time and being a mom made that really hard.
I had never thought about working as a teacher in a childcare setting but I applied anyway. I wasn’t sure I would make a good teacher because it was a lot different than what I had done before. I also feared it might be hard to work with kids all day and then go home and take care of my own but I was willing to try it because the company seemed like a great place to work as well as have my kids attend.
I am so proud of myself and grateful I pushed through my comfort zone and started working with this company. I had no idea there would be so many opportunities like becoming a Director, furthering my education in many areas, getting the chance to train with amazing leaders, and gaining that circle of friends that I always wanted (some big and some small.)
I am blessed to be able to get to know and train those that directly impact the children in the classroom because they have one of the most important jobs out there and they are the ones that bring the real magic. I know that I am making a positive impact on those I lead and train, which in turn impacts the children in their care. I am able to share with them my love for people and their growth. As rewarding as this work is, this job is not always easy but I believe that you grow when you’re the most uncomfortable… so get comfortable with being uncomfortable and expect to be a stronger, and more resilient person in the process.
Don’t be afraid to get out of your comfort zone and lean into something new, it could be the most rewarding thing you do for yourself and others. There is no greater work than being part of raising the next generation and Northstar Preschools is a great place to do that. The impact you could make on the kids right now will stay with them for the rest of their lives.
We’re committed to finding passionate individuals who align with our Core Values and want to make a positive difference for children. Let’s connect and explore how Northstar can be your next career destination.
